Community-first Funding

connectingWaterfowl Chesapeake derives most of its funding for initiatives and projects from the proceeds of Waterfowl Festival, a town-wide celebration of wildlife art, sporting heritage and Eastern Shore culture, held the second weekend in November each year. Over 15,000 people flock to the Shore and most come because of the sense of community we create.

Our new focus areas for funding are a direct reflection of our values: Community is First ~ Our region’s waterfowl-related culture is unique ~ Stewardship is All-Inclusive.  With a focus on connecting our financial resources to local environmental needs we now support:

  • Initiatives at the intersections of waterfowl conservation and community
  • Education programs on Delmarva focusing on current and future generations of conservationists, enthusiasts and educators
  • Research and scientific work of graduate students, volunteer groups
    and non-profits on Delmarva
  • Restoration and conservation of projects that benefit waterfowl and
regional habitat enhancement in ways that connect with larger bay habitat
    restoration goals
