2019 Projects and Recipients that you’ll be helping support:

  1. “Promoting Waterfowl Hunter Education for New Adult Students” is aimed at better connecting today’s graduate students with tomorrow’s careers in Waterfowl Ecology. Many graduate students studying in this field have never had the experience of hunting. This University of Delaware field program helps them understand the sporting perspective so they are better able to working with hunters and landowners in the future.
  2. “Creating Food Sources for Waterfowl” by engaging citizens to grow oysters in support of oyster reef restoration. While our waterfowl don’t eat the oysters, diving ducks rely on all the micro-organisms that also live in oyster bars – mussels, worms, small crabs – as a primary winter food source. Phillips Wharf Environmental Center will be growing their own spat on shell to support local oyster growers and will also educate people about the waterfowl-oyster connections.
